Hillerød-Frederiksværk-Hundested Jernbane

Hillerød-Frederiksværk-Hundested Jernbane (HFHJ) (Hillerød-Frederiksværk-Hundested Railway) or Frederiksværkbanen  (HFHJ) (Frederiksværk Railway) was a private railway company in northwestern Zealand in Denmark, founded in 1897 as Hillerød-Frederiksværk Railway (HFJ) and changed to HFHJ in 1916. HFJ was founded in 1897 and operated the Frederiksværk Railway between Hillerød and Frederiksværk. In 1916, the line was extended from Frederiksværk to Hundested, where passengers could continue by ferry to Jutland or  to Rørvig. Hundested Harbour Railway was built in 1923. Tracks were built for the Hundested-Rørvig ferry in 1928, so that trains could run all the way down to the quay when there is a connection with a ferry. Tracks were also built for the defunct Grenå-Hundested ferry in 1938. In 1961, HFHJ entered into a partnership with Gribskovbanens Driftsselskab (GDS). Both companies remained separate, but among other things, the rolling stock management was carried out jointly. This was evident from the inscriptions "GDS-HFHJ" on the rolling stock. In 2002, most of the private railway companies on Zealand, including HFHJ and GDS, merged into the new railway company Hovedstadens Lokalbaner (management of infrastructure and rolling stock) and Lokalbanen (operation of train services). GDS-HFHJ had diesel multiple units of the Lynette and IC2 types for passenger service until the merger in 2002. HFHJ also had four diesel locomotives of the MX type taken over from Danish State Railways (DSB) for freight service. Since GDS did not operate freight trains, these locomotives were managed by HFHJ. The Frederiksværk Line today uses the Lint 41 train type, which replaced the line's IC2 and Lynette train sets in 2007.
